Carrs Pasties Middlebrook | Case Study

Retail Technology Solutions

Carrs Pasties is a family-run bakery that has been handed down through three generations and has been supplying Bolton with freshly baked pasties since 1938!

Carrs Pasties Middlebrook, located on one of the largest retail parks in the UK, is the latest Carrs store that TVC have helped transform through the innovative use of leading audio-visual technology.

The Brief

Carrs Pasties Middlebrook was to be the first shop the company would open within a retail park, and the first shop of any kind since the flagship store was launched on Manchester Rd, Bolton in 2017. Following the blueprint previously created for their other stores, we knew creating a behind-counter digital menu board was a must. Digital menus are a great way for Carrs to showcase their food and drink offerings / promotions.

We love working with local businesses and seized the opportunity to invite Carrs Pasties for a first look at our soon-to-launch technology experience centre during the design stage of their new store. We created a selection of bespoke branded content for them across our commercial and digital screen line-up, showcasing some of the new and exciting technologies available. Following their visit, we were asked to specify an additional digital poster screen and two double-sided window displays to further enhance the visual impact for customers at Carrs Pasties Middlebrook.

The Delivery

Starting with the behind-counter digital menu boards, we installed three Samsung 50" 4K Ultra HD hospitality screens. With vibrant colours, these digital displays capture the attention of customers and create a visually appealing advertising display for the menu and latest deals. Carrs made the strategic decision to opt for a digital menu board solution instead of conventional static signage, primarily because a digital menu board enables effortless and efficient updating of their menu, making it easier to highlight new items, seasonal specials, and promotional offers. This not only helps to keep their customers informed and engaged but enables Carrs to respond quickly to changing market trends and customer preferences.

Next up was a 49” professional signage display from Vestel, mounted in a portrait orientation, the screen is used as a digital advertising display in the customer queuing area to create the perfect opportunity for Carrs to captivate their hungry patrons with enticing specials and offers. The benefits of using a commercial screen for this type of display is the longer life span provided and a higher quality panel, making them more suitable for operating at longer durations.

Two 43" hanging double-sided window displays were used to grab the attention of onlookers and promote offers to customers already in-store. They provide a 700cd/m² sunlight-readable display, with wide viewing angles, a temperature control panel, and an integrated ceiling mount, making it them an ideal solution for enhancing storefront advertising and increasing customer engagement.

Finally, an ultra-thin 27" hanging screen with an anti-gloss display was installed within the customer order section of the main counter. Serving as a slimline digital poster, the prominent "collect here" sign delivers captivating tablet-like aesthetics for a truly high-end feel. Despite its incredibly slim 20mm profile, this screen retains exceptional durability, thanks to its high-quality metal casing, providing essential stability in a high-traffic area.

All on-screen content within Carrs Pasties Middlebrook is powered and easily controlled by MySign’s commercial grade digital signage media player. This integration enables the marketing team to effortlessly modify and schedule content via the intuitive cloud-based digital signage software remotely from the head office, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for content management and enhancing overall operational efficiency.
