Puttshack Watford | Case Study

Hospitality Technology Solutions

Founded in 2018, Puttshack is revolutionising the way we play mini golf. With four popular locations and counting, they’ve thrown out the outdated paper and pencil and replaced it with a dynamic automated scoring system. Pairing modern tech with an innovative course design and premium food and drink to create one hell of a good time for all generations!

The Brief

Following on from the success of their other three sites in the London area, the client decided to open a fourth premises in Watford. Puttshack is notorious for its impressive venues with spell bounding décor and modern technology throughout, unlike most traditional mini golf courses. This new location would be no exception, the client sought the expertise of TVC to facilitate a huge AV installation of both screens and audio, blending technology and golf to create an unforgettable experience for players.

The Delivery

A unique install of this scale requires extensive planning to ensure the smooth running and on time completion of the project. After several meetings with the customer, we implemented a plan to fit the supplied Philips 4K digital displays, connecting them to an existing digital signage player, and an array of new audio equipment. Using tech-infused ideas, Puttshack Watford wanted to create a memorable and competitive element throughout each hole as players battle to climb to the top of the leader board.

The Philips 4K TV screens were secured using various B-Tech professional AV mounts, chosen for their reliability, ease of install and robustness. The digital displays screens were strategically suspended from the ceiling at each hole and connected to an intuitive digital signage player. Puttshack's leading auto-scoring system removes the need for scorecards and pencils as the patented auto-tracking balls keep track of the scores. Keeping participants up to date with their scores on screen as they embark a variety of exciting challenges was essential for creating some healthy competition between players!

The venue also has a fully stocked bar and on-site restaurant, to help promote the modernist cuisine and tantalising beverages on offer in the Bar and Lounge, the TV screens in these areas were fixed in a portrait orientation on B-Tech flat TV brackets to be used as digital signage and digital menus which are updated regularly with food and drinks offers in the brand’s usual vibrant style.

Always striving to deliver unforgettable experiences, Puttshack Watford's customers can expect a lively atmosphere as soon as they walk through the door! A variety of high spec audio equipment was included in and around the course to ensure the audio can be heard clearly over the hustle and bustle of the venue. Our audio experts installed over 60 speakers in total, including various Audac 8” loudspeakers, and JBL commercial grade sound bars around each hole to provide thrilling sound effects. Finally, for ultimate control we added installed a BSS Soundweb, providing the significant processing power required to manage the audio from a central control system.
