Amber Taverns are one of the largest independent pub companies based across the North West, North East, Scotland and Wales with over 160 outlets.
They offer their customers a fantastic selection of drinks and ensure their pubs are refurbished with the most up-to-date audio-visual package including the full BT and Sky Sports portfolio.
The North Star was one of the latest pubs to be added to the Amber Taverns portfolio, as they opened their doors in October 2023 following a major renovation that included a complete AV overhaul.
Following on from smaller collaborations in recent months, representatives from Amber Taverns came to us to completely refurbish their brand-new site in North Shields with the latest AV technology.
Within this new site, we were tasked with providing an all-immersive AV package, which includes Samsung 4K LED Hospitality TVs, Optimal Audio’s latest passive loudspeakers and incredible Wyrestorm Signal Distribution systems, to mimic their other state-of-the-art public houses across their current catchment area. Along with this, we were approached to supply a CCTV package to cover the entire area of the North Star.
Samsung 4K LED Hospitality TVs
From the moment you arrive at the pub, you are immediately greeted by Samsung 4K LED Hospitality TVs. Evenly situated throughout the North Star, a grand total of 14 TVs ranging in size from 50” to 85”, which are designed especially from the commercial environment.
Designed to be active for longer periods of time, this allows the North Star to display any of the sporting action that is on from opening till close, thanks to their full BT & Sky Sports packages, without the fear of their TVs overheating.
Another great feature is their smooth motion handling. This fantastic feature negates the fear of motion blur for the North Star landlords when they are displaying their wide range of sport for their customers.
All of these models have been secured in place by Peerless flat wall brackets. A great feature of Peerless’ brackets is the ability to adjust the TV, both horizontally and vertically, for post-installation levelling and side-to-side positioning. Further to this, their low-profile design provides a streamlined, aesthetically pleasing appearance that can complement any décor.
Wyrestorm Signal Distribution
Thanks to Wyrestorm’s flexible Network HD series, we have been able to provide an enhanced MultiView display solution across the TV lineup.
Using the latest display technology, the North Star are now able to show multiple feeds on their screens at once, so customers can enjoy multiple live sporting events simultaneously, even if it is on different channels at the same time.
Moreover, provided multiple sources have been setup, Wyrestorm’s MultiView can display up to nine simultaneous video feeds on a single 4K display in different areas of the pub. This is a fantastic plus point for any venue looking to provide different entertainment options throughout the day to appease a wider audience.
Accessibility and ergonomic benefits are essential for staff when using Wyrestorm’s Multiview technology and we have provided North Star their award-winning Touch App via an iPad.
We have also provided them with the Companion app for remote use over the three installed Sky boxes at the venue.
This allows staff to switch live video sources and display previews with instant drag and drop content selection without any difficulty.
Optimal Audio System
Circulated around the entirety of the North Star is a complete compliment of Optimal Audio passive loudspeakers, ranging from their 8” 200W model to a 15” 500W subwoofer.
Focusing in on the Cuboid 8” loudspeaker, the compact model with a wooden cabinet and steel grille seamlessly fits into any setting. Whether it is a bar like the North Star or a calmer environment like a residential home, the Cuboid 8” provides rich and detailed sound that allows customers to take in the atmosphere with supreme ease.
Given the lively environment the North Star will be providing to their customers, the Optimal Audio 15” high-power sub-bass loudspeaker provides an added sub-bass support of 135dB when the busier times occur. Tied in with the increased impact and low frequency performance is their plywood bass-reflex cabinet that always maximises performance around the venue whilst taking up little space.
Longevity is paramount with all Optimal Audio products, and the Sub 15” is no different with their impact-resistant perforated steel grille protects the central components.
Managing the audio, we have installed a Zone 4 audio controller all areas of the venue. This allows for audio controls to be simplified that can manage up to four differing zones. This device come readily made with fully programmable presents and allows for scheduled level changes for automated ease of use.
Control has been remarkably simplified through the Optimal Audio Wall Control System and web UI via iPad. Staff can individually control each zone using their software to ensure the customer experience is optimized in all areas.
Hikvision CCTV
Finally, we have provided an entire CCTV package to cover the whole North Star floor premises, using Hikvision’s security camera solutions.
Located strategically around the floor space, we have installed a plethora of Fixed Turret Network Cameras.
Equipped with the latest advanced long-range technology to capture in-depth imaging, these models offer real-time security via built-in two-way audio to ensure the North Star have immediate access to footage should they need it.
Alongside these internal cameras, we have installed a range of Hikvision Pro Series ColorVu external cameras.
These models are designed for external use, with stunning low-light imaging to expertly identify individuals, coupled with the state-of-the-art smart hybrid light option to fit any need in any setting.
Combined with the super confocal lens that displays master-level focus with long-lasting, HD imagery, the North Star now has the industry best security system available.
