TempFencing 24/7

TempFencing 24/7 supplies temporary fencing, crowd control barriers and event infrastructure for festivals, concerts, construction projects and public events across the UK. Its services help organisers bring together the equipment and facilities needed to support temporary sites of different sizes.

Alongside fencing and site infrastructure, the business offers event catering units, making food and drink provision part of its wider event services. These mobile catering environments require clear customer communication and equipment suited to the demands of outdoor operation.

The Brief

Following an enquiry through our website, TempFencing approached TVC Technology Solutions to supply two outdoor digital menu boards for its Airstream catering units at Fosse Park shopping centre in Leicester. Representing its Smash & Scoop and Mmm Churros brands, the displays need to withstand outdoor conditions and deliver sunlight-readable performance, ensuring customers could easily browse the menu choices even in bright sunshine.

With each brand having its own distinct identity and theme, the project also required bespoke digital menu designs tailored to each unit. Initial discussions highlighted the opportunity to combine clear, cohesive menu layouts with eye-catching motion graphics, bringing each brand to life while making the food offering easy to explore.

The Delivery

Outdoor Digital Displays

TVC supplied two 32-inch outdoor digital displays, mounted in portrait on each Airstream units using a custom-built mounting solution from TempFencing themselves. Designed for commercial outdoor use, the displays combine bright, sunlight-readable imagery with robust weather protection, keeping menu choices clear and easy to read even in bright sunshine.

With a brightness of 2,500cd/m² and anti-reflective glass, the displays help keep both Smash & Scoop and Mmm Churros menus information visible in bright daylight. This gives customers a clearer view of the available options before reaching the serving point, supporting more informed ordering and helping the units attract attention in a busy shopping centre.

The displays’ IP65-rated enclosures protect against rain and airborne dust, addressing a central requirement of TempFencing’s original enquiry. Toughened glass and an IK10 impact rating provide additional durability for public-facing locations, while their suitability for 24/7 operation supports extended trading hours.

For TempFencing, the screens provide a flexible platform for presenting menus, prices and promotional messages. Digital content can be refreshed as requirements change, reducing reliance on replacement printed boards and helping maintain a professional appearance across the catering units.

Digital Display Design Content

TempFencing expanded their initial enquiry to include the Showcase package from TVC’s Digital Display Design Studio, our specialist digital signage content design service. Providing three coordinated designs, the package brought together professionally designed content, outdoor display hardware and MySign digital signage software to create a complete solution for presenting clear, engaging menus and promotional messaging.

For this project, the content focused on making the Airstream menu boards both informative and eye-catching. Clear layouts, readable pricing and a considered balance of imagery and text help customers understand the offer quickly, while consistent branding gives the displays a recognisable, professional identity.

The design process began by establishing the audience, key messages, available brand assets and screen specifications. Artwork was then developed for the agreed display format, with an opportunity to refine the designs before preparing the final screen-ready files.

Designing specifically for digital displays means considering how information will be viewed at the point of service. Menu items, prices and promotional messages need a clear visual order, helping customers find the information they need without overcrowding the screen. For TempFencing, this approach supports both the presentation of its catering offer and the practical customer experience.

The project also included MySign setup and two MySign licences, giving TempFencing the flexibility to manage and schedule content alongside its new screens and design package. Menus, pricing and promotional messaging can be updated and scheduled to suit different times of day or service periods, providing a future-ready solution that can adapt as its catering requirements evolve.

The Result

The project brought together two purpose-built outdoor displays, bespoke digital content and flexible signage software for TempFencing’s Airstream catering units. Weather-resistant, sunlight-readable screens meet the practical demands of outdoor catering, while tailored branded designs and eye-catching motion graphics bring menus to life and help customers explore their choices. Together, they demonstrate how combining the right hardware with thoughtfully designed content can help businesses make the most of their digital display investment.
