At TVC Technology Solutions, we specialise in creating tailored AV and technology solutions that enhance the way venues look, sound, and operate. Our latest project at The Midland in Smethwick highlights how a thoughtfully designed AV system can transform the entire hospitality experience.
Situated on Bearwood Road, The Midland required a modern, reliable solution that would support live sport, entertainment, and everyday trading while remaining easy to manage for staff. Following a detailed site survey and consultation, we designed and delivered a complete AV and infrastructure upgrade to meet both current and future needs.
The primary focus of the project was to create a premium live-sport viewing experience throughout the venue. To achieve this, we installed a combination of professional and hospitality-grade Samsung 4K displays, including an impressive 98” Samsung 4K UHD screen as the centrepiece in the main bar area. Additional 75” displays were installed across the venue, including the rear darts area, ensuring excellent visibility from every viewing position.
All displays are connected via a high-definition 8×8 Wyrestorm matrix system, allowing multiple sources to be shown independently or mirrored across different screens. This provides complete flexibility on busy weekends with multiple sporting events occurring at the same time, enabling staff to switch between live sport, promotions, and entertainment content with ease.
Audio was another key consideration. We designed a fully zoned sound system using Clever loudspeakers, powered by DSP-enabled amplifiers and controlled via industry grade audio processing. This setup delivers clear, consistent sound throughout the venue, with independent volume control, provided by Cloud, across different areas. Whether it’s live sport commentary, background music, or events, the system always ensures the right audio level in the right space. Wireless microphone capability was also integrated, providing flexibility for announcements and hosted events.
To ensure reliability and a clean finish, all AV and source equipment was installed within a professionally built equipment rack. The rack was assembled and configured off-site by our engineers before being installed and commissioned on location. This approach minimised disruption during installation and ensures all systems are centrally managed, easy to maintain, and neatly organised.
Additionally, we enhanced the venue’s atmosphere with bespoke RGBW LED lighting. Feature lighting was installed behind the bar areas, alongside dedicated white LED lighting for the dartboards. The lighting system allows for colour changes and zoning, enabling the venue to adapt its look and feel throughout the day and during key sporting or entertainment events.
The result is a fully modernised venue with impactful visuals, clear and controllable audio, atmospheric lighting, and a future-proof technology infrastructure. The Midland is now perfectly positioned to capitalise on live sport and entertainment, offering customers an engaging and memorable experience.
