Milnrow & Newhey Medical Centre | Case Study

Corporate Technology Solutions

Milnrow and Newhey Medical Centre, at the Parkside Stables site off Newhey Road, replaces Milnrow Village Practice and Stonefield Street Surgery, and offers more capacity for patients and staff. This state-of-the-art medical centre facility opened its doors in 2023 and hosts two GP surgeries. The surrounding area has also been designed to promote biodiversity and encourage wildlife conservation and community involvement.

The Brief

This installation was initiated after we received a recommendation from another NHS foundation in the North West that we previously completed a project for in 2022. The Milnrow and Newhey Medical Centre required a screen sharing conferencing solution for four meeting rooms, with one meeting room requiring an additional video conferencing solution. The new group of meeting rooms will be used for new patient support activities, including training and education. The required solution needed to allow users to easily communicate with others via video calls while ensuring that they could be clearly seen and heard.

The Delivery

To meet the Milnrow and Newhey Medical Centre's need for screen-sharing and video conferencing solutions in their four meeting rooms, we specified a Samsung near bezel-less 75" Ultra HD 4K screen and ScreenBeam wireless meeting display receivers for each room. These devices enable wireless connectivity to the large HDR screens and support native wireless display protocols meaning users can wirelessly present from any device without having to install and maintain an application or use a dongle or cable. Plus, HDMI input is available for older devices without wireless capability.

We securely wall mounted the Samsung displays with Peerless SmartMount universal flat wall mounts. These provide a sleek and minimal, low-profile design, and abilities to allow for post installation levelling and side-to-side positioning, making it easy to find the perfect TV position.

For the final conference room, the Milnrow and Newhey Medical Centre requested a video conferencing solution in addition to screen sharing. To fulfil this need, we opted for the Polycom Studio Camera with 4K Resolution. This device has a built-in camera and speaker with a range of 5m to 6m, providing clear visuals and audio. With group framing and automatic speaker tracking, the connection feels personal. Delivering the best audio quality in its class, it blocks distracting sounds that can interrupt meetings. The Polycom Studio Camera is also a cloud-based tool, allowing pushed software updates and further enhancing its functionality.
